Dan-Tien and Television
Do people enjoy watching television? What a question! Of course they do! Why else would they spend hours in front of the TV set?
At least this is what they believe until they learn to listen to their Dan-Tien. Then they get the surprise of their life. They discover that they do not really feel good when they watch most of the programs. Perhaps they feel entertained, or stimulated, or excited. But unless they choose their programs very carefully, they will not really enjoy most of what they see.
How strange! People spend countless hours of their precious time in this way, in the mistaken belief that television brings them enjoyment. Millions even become addicted to this pursuit that actually reduces their well-being.
If they just switch on the set and watch whatever happens to be on at the moment, their chance of finding a program that really makes them "feel good" are slim indeed. But they usually keep watching anyway because they are entertained or because they think they have nothing better to do. Deep down, however, they know that they are wasting their time, and that the program will make them feel worse instead of better.
Then there is the fact that television tends to accentuate the sensational, the disturbing, and the abnormal. The screen shows the one person who has killed someone, for instance, and ignores the thousands of others who lead pleasant and normal lives. After watching such scenes all day, the viewer gets the impression that all human beings are more or less crazy.
The advertising messages between programs are futhermore designed to make people feel dissatisfied. Anyone who does not have the advertised product or service is pictured as ignorant or inferior.The "messages from our sponsor" are by their very nature
